Signs of septic trouble

Watch for slow or backed-up drains in more than one bathroom or fixture at once, and for a foul smell settling in around the yard. Standing water, or unusually green grass, over the drain field is another common sign, along with gurgling sounds in the plumbing when you run water or flush.

What we do

We come out, diagnose what's actually going on with the tank or the drain field, and make the repair. It's the same diagnose-first approach we use on well pumps. A slow drain today is a lot cheaper to deal with than a backup next month.

What we look at on a repair call

Septic problems usually come down to one of a few places: the tank itself, the line running from the house to the tank, or the drain field. We check where the symptoms are actually pointing before recommending anything. A slow drain in one bathroom points somewhere different than sewage odor across the whole yard.

Septic and well systems on the same property

A lot of Poconos homes run both a private well and a septic system, and the two are closely tied together. A failing drain field can affect groundwater near a well, and heavy household water use affects both systems at once. Because we work on both, we can flag something septic-related while we're out for a well or pump call, and the reverse holds too, instead of you needing to bring in two separate companies to look at two systems that share the same yard.
